A somber Friday. A black Friday for Malaysians, and perhaps, the world too.
I was hooked to the television; trying hard to stop my tears from falling. MH6129 flown by four gentlemen (lucky ones, I must say!) safely touched down in KLIA and finally, taxied to Kompleks Bunga Raya where the receiving ceremony was held.

Receiving Ceremony
It was heartbreaking. Really.
Out of 43 perished Malaysians, 20 remains arrived today. These remains were received with honour; fit for fallen soldiers. At 10:54LT (as the last coffin was brought out) - Malaysians observed a minute of silence ("tafakur") as a sign of respect.
I was emotional today.
Maybe because this is so close to home. And maybe, just maybe, I'm still very much attached to my former airline.
"They're not my friends. They're not my colleagues. They're my family. My MH family."
Some people said they didn't suffer as they died instantly. Not sure if that'll help ease their families' feelings -- but somehow, I hope it did.
One thing I'm glad of, just like how the entire country might feel, is the fact that their journey has finally ended. They're now finally, safely home.
Departed comrades!
Thou, redeemed from pain
Shall sleep the sleep that kings desire in vain
Not thine the sense of loss
But lo, for us the void
That never shall be filled again
Not thine but ours the grief
All pain is fled from thee
And we are weeping in thy stead
Tears for the mourners who are left behind
Peace everlasting for the quiet dead.
- Lucretius
I hope the family will be able to find peace now that their loved ones are safely home.
But, of course, it's easier said than done :'(
Nevertheless -- I will always, always, always keep them in my prayers. Al-Fatihah.
